After a long mostly dry period Grand Island had a good rain fall, you could almost hear the parched ground sucking the moisture in.
Now that it seems like the hot dry air is beginning to let up and some moisture becomes available for the lawns they should start to green back up. In our area the lawns are mostly cool weather grasses and thrive when the temperatures are around 75 to 80 degrees so will soon kick into high gear.
Some people basically stopped mowing as the heat was relentless and the lawns yellowed. Now those lawns have a lot of weeds that are more drought resistant, taking over the lawns. You should consider bagging the clippings when you mow again to slow down the spread of the weeds.
A healthy lawn can help crowd out many weeds so it is important to get back to mowing but don't cut to short.
Island Mowing cuts the grass at 3 inches, this is short enough to look good but tall enough to keep the lawn healthy and let the grass retain moisture better than when it is cut shorter.
We would be happy to have you join our customer base and let us do the mowing so you don't have to. Anyone that we enter into a new lawn mowing contract during August will receive 50% off the cutting price for 30 days!
